| Not counting today, it's 12 days. Twelve days until I'm married! It's pretty hard to believe that it has all come together so quickly. The wedding plans are coming along pretty well. Christina and I are just working on getting the details worked out, which is probably the most frustrating and hectic part, but neither of us have had any major blowups. I'm very thankful for that! I'm really looking forward to most of my family being here for the wedding! It will be especially great to have Parker and Jonah around. I hope to have time to spend with them even with all of the preparations that will be taking place. Plus my cousins from Virgina will be in town so I'll get to hang out with them some as well.
My office is having a Christmas party on Friday and our department is pretty busy talking about how to decorate Lucas's wheelchair, what food to bring, and how many Christmas trees we can fit in our section of the office. I'm afraid I've almost completely overlooked most of the holiday cheer that's going on around me. I am looking forward to relaxing in Joplin this weekend with my parents and Christina. I hope to watch some Christmas movies, eat too much, and get caught up on sleep.
I hope you all have a very merry Christmas this year! As my good friend Tyler reminded me this Sunday at church, "We can't separate Christ's birth from the gospel." Something to consider when we are thinking about the Son of God coming to Earth.

| Amy passed away yesterday afternoon. She battled leukemia for over a year, but ultimately it was her time to move from faith in the Lord, to being in His presence and receiving His promises. Please keep her husband Brandon and her son Gary in your prayers, as well as her parents and siblings. I'm saddened to think of all of the moments I've wasted sitting on the couch watching TV, or doing some other activity that was less than profitable for me and others, while taking for granted that I would have another day.
Here is a link to the Wilhoites' blog. The last few entries were by her husband or her mom, but up until a couple of weeks ago Amy was still telling her own story.

| This weekend I went to Mt. Nebo with Christina's family for their family reunion. I had talked with her dad a few weeks before and received his permission to ask her to marry me. He mentioned that proposing to her at Mt. Nebo would be very special to her since her family would be there. So I went ring shopping a couple of weeks ago and found the ring that I had pictured for her. I had to guess at the size since it was going to be a surprise. We got up to Mt. Nebo Friday night just minutes after sunset. That evening we rode around with Christina's parents to some of the different spots on the mountain. I found out the next day that the trip was partially for my benefit so I could pick a good place to propose to her. On Saturday Christina and I went on a hike in the morning. I had the ring with me at that time, but I never did find a good spot to ask her to marry me. Plus the trail was a little more strenuous than I had expected, so it kind of made it hard to get "in the mood" when sweat was soaking my shirt and I was struggling to breathe! After the hike, I went to play flag football with the rest of the boys. It was nice being the tallest one out there because I got the ball thrown my direction a lot, but it wore me out! Just running far enough to get a first down was reason enough for me to take a 5 minute break. Once the game broke up I went to eat lunch and then headed over to the pool where Christina was hanging out. The ice cold water felt great! I got out of the pool and laid on the pool chair next to Christina for a while. Then I started noticing that most of her family was there and the ones who weren't were probably resting. So I seized the opportunity and asked Christina to head back to the cabins with me. Marcus and Tamara let us borrow their car to get back to the cabins. Once I got there I changed quick and fixed my hair a little. Her parents were in the cabin with me and they asked if this was going to be the moment. When I confirmed that, they asked to pray with me. It was a special moment. I went down to Christina's cabin with the ring in my pocket and we walked up to Sunset Point. When we got there we weren't alone, so we kind of hung out until the others enjoying the gorgeous view had left. We then found a bench in the shade looking out over what seemed like the entire state of Arkansas. Following is a rough transcript of our conversation:
Me: "I love you, Christina." Christina: "I know! I love you too!" Me: "I feel so blessed that the Lord has brought you into my life." Christina: "You are blessed to have me in your life!" (laughing) "But seriously, I feel blessed too." Me: "I would love to spend the rest of my life with you." Christina: "I'd love to spend the rest of my life with you too!" Me: "Really?" Then I reached in my pocket and pulled out the box containing the ring and opened it. "Would you marry me?" Christina: "Yes!"
Christina then stared at the ring for 5 to 10 seconds, until I had to eventually demand that she try it on! It fit perfectly! After talking a little while longer we headed back to the cabins to tell the rest of her family. Her parents' cabin was the first stop. That was a request her mother made before I left the cabin to get Christina. I was then sent to Lucas and Carrie's cabin to make sure they were available. I reported back that they would be available in about 5 minutes after Lucas got out of the shower. So the four of us went down to their cabin and Christina and I got to share the good news with them. The next stop was Marcus and Tamara's cabin, which they were sharing with Christina's cousin Ray and his wife Abbi. The group of six went down to their cabin. We told them the news and Tamara started jumping up and down, yelling, and crying! I thought she was going to hit her head on the overhead fan in the cabin! Then Tamara shared the secret she had been keeping for 2 weeks. When I was at the jeweler picking out the ring she and Marcus came in to get her ring cleaned! Marcus had the wisdom to move their business to another room so I wouldn't see them and worry that my secret would leak out. Then we had to go down to the big cabin where Mum and the Shoemakers were staying. Since our group of people in the know was up to 10 we decided we should go in shifts so they wouldn't get suspicious. So once everyone was down there Christina and I went down and shared the news with them. The only person we had left to tell were Christina's Aunt Merry Ann and Uncle Rusty, who was sick at the time. So we both went up to their cabin and told them, while being careful not to enter the cabin so we didn't get sick. I also called all of my family in between stops and told them that she had said yes!
We don't have a date set yet. We tried to just enjoy the weekend without dealing with some of the stresses that go with planning a wedding. As we get things figured out we will be sure to relay that information.
(Christina and anyone else who was at Mt. Nebo this weekend, if I have mistold the story or forgotten any details that you think need to be included let me know.) | | |
| Erin sent me a few pics of her boys. Here are a couple of them:

These pictures made me get online today to look at plane ticket prices so I can go up and see them!
